
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Bobby Cannon finished with a team-high 25 points in a 95-73 win for the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team over Cloud County on Saturday at the Sports Arena.
Cannon now has three 20-plus point games this season, as he secured his fourth straight double-figure scoring contest.
Hutchinson is now 16-9 overall, 12-7 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Blue Dragons remain in fifth place in the conference standings with five games to go.
Cloud County (11-14, 5-14) came out with a hot start, leading 16-6 with 11:43 to play in the first half.
After the Blue Dragons settled down and picked up the defensive intensity, the Thunderbirds struggled.
HutchCC held Cloud County to 12 points for the final 11:43 of the opening half, while the Blue Dragons went on a 28-12 run to lead 34-28 at halftime.
The Blue Dragons dominated the second half, scoring a season-best 64 points in the final 20 minutes. Hutchinson shot 60% from the floor in the second half, knocking down six 3-pointers and 16 of 17 from the foul line.
D.J. Dudley poured in 22 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds for his first double-double of his collegiate career. Bo Aldridge had 19 points, including three monster dunks. Mikhail Abdul-Hamid had 13 points, all coming in the second half.
Cloud County was led by Elidjah Savane with 26 points, including 10 of 16 from the stripe. Syncere Burnett had 20 to join Savane in double figures.
The Blue Dragons will travel to Ark City on Wednesday to face No. 8 Cowley College inside of W.S. Scott Auditorium. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted on KHUT-FM (102.9), the flagship station of Blue Dragon athletics.
