Velda Ruth Ratzlaff |1933-2021|

Velda Ruth Ratzlaff, age 88 of Moundridge, formerly of Montezuma, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021.  She was the daughter of Herman A.  and Virginia (Lohrey) Dirks.

She was born September 16, 1933 in Chinook, Montana.  Velda attended Prairie Flower and Gem School near Halstead, Kansas.

On November 25, 1956, Velda was united in marriage with Raymond Ratzlaff in Livingston, California.  He preceded her in death on December 7, 2019.  Velda and Raymond enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage together.  The family lived in Livingston, California. Velda and Raymond moved to Montezuma and then to Moundridge in 2006.

Velda was a homemaker. She was a member of Homeland Mennonite Church in Montezuma, and attended Gospel Mennonite Church in Moundridge. 

She is survived by two sons, Perry (Lisa) Ratzlaff, Yuma, AZ., and Dayton (Cathy) Ratzlaff, Louisville, GA.; daughter, Dixie (Myron) Koehn, Moundridge; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Velda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; and two brothers, Douglas Dirks and Victor Dirks.

Funeral Services will be held at the Gospel Mennonite Church, 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021.  Friends may call at the Moundridge Funeral Home from 3-5 on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.  Family will meet with friends 6:30 – 8:00 at Gospel Mennonite Church.  A family visitation will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Montezuma on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 5-7 p.m.  Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Homeland Mennonite Church Cemetery, Montezuma.
