KANSAS CITY(AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 38-year-old man with fatally shooting another man and wounding a woman last week in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s office said Keaire Martin has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and several other charges in connection with Thursday’s shooting.

Officers found the victims of the shooting Thursday afternoon inside a home in the 8100 block of Lydia Avenue. Dionte Harris, 39, was found dead in the basement. The woman, who hasn’t been identified, was found upstairs with gunshot wounds to her head, chest and arm, and she was in critical condition.

Martin was arrested Friday.

Court documents say Martin told police that he went to confront the victims because they stole money from him the day before. It wasn’t immediately clear if Martin had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
