HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hospice and Homecare of Reno County said last weekend's Festival of Remembrance was the most successful thus far, bringing in $185,000.
Darla Wilson, VP Chief Administrative Officer for Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County, expressed to the crowd how important this fundraiser was, especially this year.
Because of COVID-19, Hospice revenue was down and expenses were up. During the pandemic, patients were able to receive visitors at the Hospice House, unlike other facilities that were locked down.
Hospice House will be getting computers on wheels to allow nurses to do bedside charting in the patient’s rooms. This gives the staff an avenue to view patient medications and treatments quickly for best end-of-life care. Money raised will also go to fund a new communication system that will ensure the patient and families get timely and efficient response by the nursing staff. The money for those projects was raised through the Itemless item in the auction. It raised $40,000.
Brad Pryor won the 2018 Ford Escape raffled at the 20th Annual Festival of Remembrance. A huge Thank You goes out to Mel Hambelton Ford for generously donating their 10th car this year.
Also raising big money was a dinner with wine pairing for ten. Kati and Radley Brooks and Amy and Patrick Fluck ended up donating three dinners which raised $15,200. The Broadmoor trip went for over $4,000 and the San Diego Wine & Food Festival was close to that. The cutest big ticket item was a Mini-Aussiedoodle which went for $3,600.
Hospice and Homecare wants to thank the community for its generosity and support.
