HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Bryan Miller has resigned as head boys basketball coach at Hutchinson High School after six seasons leading the Salthawks.
Miller’s resignation was approved Monday evening by the Hutchinson USD 308 Board of Education.
A 1997 Hutchinson High graduate, Miller returned to his alma mater before the 2020-21 season and helped turn around a program that had struggled in the years before his arrival.
Hutchinson went 73-61 during Miller’s six seasons, including two trips to the Class 5A state tournament. The Salthawks qualified for state in 2020-21 and returned in 2022-23, when they finished fourth after posting a 22-3 record.
Hutchinson had gone 19-106 over the six seasons before Miller took over the program.
The Salthawks went 7-14 in Miller’s first season before improving to 12-10 in 2021-22. Hutchinson followed with its 22-win season in 2022-23, then finished 15-7 in 2023-24, 10-11 in 2024-25 and 7-16 last season.
Miller, a Hutchinson native, played at HHS under former Salthawk coach Phil Anderson.
Before becoming Hutchinson’s head coach, Miller spent the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach at Hutchinson Community College. He previously spent seven seasons with the Butler Community College men’s basketball program, including three seasons as an assistant and four as head coach.
