Robert ‘Bob’ E. Gore  |1930-2022|

Robert ‘Bob’ E. Gore, passed away August 17, 2022, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.  He was born March 15, 1930, in Sawyer, to Leslie Mack Gore and Susie Lillian (Doughart) Gore.

Bob was a 1949 graduate of Sawyer High School, Sawyer.  He worked as a machinist at Eaton Corporation, formerly Cessna Fluid Power Division, retiring with over 44 years of service.  Bob was a member of the Machinist Union and the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, South Hutchinson.

He was always ‘tinkering’ on cars and motorcycles.  If you needed some help, Bob was your ‘go-to-guy’.  He would drop whatever he was working on to provide help and assistance to others.  Bob enjoyed all kinds of homemade cookies and his drink of choice was Pepsi.  

On June 20, 1951, he married Betty Gene Woodworth, in Hutchinson. They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to her death on March 28, 2012.

Bob is survived by:  his children, Marilyn ‘Mary’ Hornbeck, Mike (Shelly) Gore, and Robyn Miller, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Chris Gore, Laura Miller, George (Jenna) Hornbeck, Megan (Marcus) Yoder, and Nick (Rachel) Miller; step-granddaughter, Kelly (Nathan) Alexander; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; wife; son, Danny Gore; six siblings; and two sons-in-law.

Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022, and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2022, with the family present from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
