HUTCHINSON, Kan — The Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees met in a special session Monday. The board met with a mediator in the effort to hammer out a new contract with its faculty.

The two sides declared an impasse Aug. 2 following several rounds of negotiations. According to HutchCC President Dr. Carter File the two sides have been meeting to get through several matters.

File says that includes some language regarding the hiring process and salary and benefits. File could not give details about what they were offering and what the faculty was countering with.

File says the board will meet again on Sept.  9th and then go back to the bargaining table with the faculty some time after that.
