William “Bill” Collins, 67, passed away December 15, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born June 7, 1953, in Hutchinson, the son of Bascom “Bud” Bramble and Peggy Jean (Johnson) Collins. Bill graduated from Hutchinson High School.

On December 4, 1971, Bill married Edda McIver, in Abbyville, KS. They were married for 49 years. He worked for Carey Salt and retired from Hutchinson Correctional Facility as boiler operator. Bill had many interests and hobbies. He was a collector of owls, loved going fishing and enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael Ray and Jerry Vaughn, brother-in-laws, Luis Perez and Ralph McIver; cousin, Rayleena Stanley and father-in-law, Edward McIver.

Survivors include his wife, Edda; three children, Charlessa (Joil) Howell of Blackwell, OK., Jason (Shae) Collins of Sterling, KS., and Rachel (Mike) Hatcher of Alden, KS.; four grandchildren, Alicia (Stephen) Hecht of McPherson, KS., Joshua (Kimberly) Howell of Plevna, KS., Daniel Collins of Plevna, KS., and Zoie Collins of Wichita, KS.; four great grandchildren, Freya, Jullien and Emilia Hecht and Matthew Howell; two step- grandchildren, Keisha and Jaeda; three step- great grandchildren, Cameron, Aailyah and Xhalijah; three sisters, Cris Serviss of Wichita, Bonnie (Cecil) Chambers and Terry Perez, both of Hutchinson; two brothers, Timothy (Tina Tomlin) Collins of Oklahoma City, OK., and James Collins of Cotopaxi, CO.; mother-in-law, Helen Cox of Hutchinson, sister-in-law, Pam Wait of Hutchinson, brother and sister –in-laws, Jerry and Mary McIver of Wichita, KS., Everette McIver, Beth and Gene Buie, all of Hutchinson, KS., and Kathy and Fred Alford of Coffeyville, KS.; numerous nieces, nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visitation as cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made to Food Bank of Reno County and sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
