Weldon Arthur Cook, 81, passed away March 28, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. He was born October 30, 1940, in Hutchinson, to Arthur Sydney and Evelyn Irene (Schnurr) Cook.
Weldon was a 1958 graduate of Partridge High School, Partridge. He was employed as the warehouse manager at Pepsi Cola for 28 years, and then worked for the Kansas State Fair, retiring with 11 years of service. From May 2010 to May 2013, Weldon served as the mayor of the City of South Hutchinson.
On July 7, 1961, he married Jolene Mitzner, in South Hutchinson. They shared over 60 years of marriage.
Weldon is survived by: his wife, Jolene Cook of South Hutchinson; children, Troy (Susan) Cook of Nickerson; and Tami Cook of South Hutchinson; grandchildren, Heather (Jesse) Cartwright of Hutchinson; Tyler (Hannah) Cook of Nickerson; and Ryder Cook of Hays; and great-grandchildren, Max Elam, Lucy Elam, Emily Cook, Camden Hummel, and Willow Hummel.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Eual Cook; and sister, Wanita Moeller.
Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, and Thursday, March 31, 2022, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
