KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez has been named an American League All-Star for the eighth time, the team announced Sunday. The 33-year-old is second in all time Royals All-Star appearances, behind only Hall-of-Famer George Brett's 13 selections.

The All-Star Game is July 11 in Seattle.

Perez is a reserve for the second time in his career.

Through the announcement Sunday, Perez had 15 homeruns and 40 RBI. This is Perez's eighth season with at least 15 homers.
