SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and have a suspect in custody.
Just before 5a.m. March 7, police responded to shooting at a home in the 4900 Block of East Elm in Wichita, according to Police Lt. Christian Cory.
At the scene, officers found a 21-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her neck.
EMS transported her to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Investigators later learned that the victim and her boyfriend Zaniriusz Chambers, 26, got into a disturbance. During the altercation, Chambers pulled out a handgun and shot her one time.
Police arrested Chambers at the scene and he is being held on requested charges of aggravated battery, domestic violence, according to Cory.
