HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Deputy Elections Official Jenna Fager notes that the effort to get more absentee ballot applications in this time around appears to have been successful, as they start sending out ballots Wednesday.

"We will be sending out 5254 advance ballots," Fager said. "Those are all going to go out. If you did reply for one, you'll be receiving it here shortly. In 2016, we looked back at the numbers, and I believe it was 853 that we sent out."

You still need to get the ballot back in a timely manner.

"The postage will be paid on that," Fager said. "It will need to be in our office, or at least postmarked by election day."

Primary election day is Tuesday, August 4.
