HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson says equipment breakdowns have delayed mowing along some levees and drainage ditches this summer, but crews are working to catch up.
City officials said the areas are typically mowed twice a year, with the first round taking place in early May and the second in late July. This year, several pieces of mowing equipment have experienced mechanical problems, with some repairs taking longer than expected because of delays in obtaining replacement parts.
Crews are now working through the second round of mowing and making progress as equipment becomes available.
Residents may also notice that the centers of some drainage ditches remain unmowed. The city normally uses a robotic mower to maintain those areas, but the machine is currently out of service while crews wait for replacement parts.
The city said those sections will be completed once the robotic mower is repaired and returned to service.
Officials thanked residents for their patience as crews continue working through the mowing schedule and equipment issues.
