Michael W. Carter, 80, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at his home in North Newton, Kansas.
He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Emmett L. Carter and Doris O. (Knotts) Carter. He was a life-long resident of the Wichita area graduating from Wichita West High School. Michael attended Southern Methodist University, in Texas, as a member of the swimming team until returning to Wichita to step into management at the family’s business, Wichita Brass and Aluminum Foundry, Inc.
On a blind date, Michael met the love of his life and Miss Kansas contestant, Jennifer J. Peterman who he married only a couple of months later in 1965. They raised 2 amazing kids and enjoyed a full life! Michael enjoyed Reese’s, wood-working, fishing, flying his airplane and supporting his kids in their activities. Michael was nothing if not a cheerleader for others to reach their goals.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett L. and Doris O. Carter.
Michael is survived by his wife Jennifer J. (Peterman) Carter, son Casey M. Carter (Sabrina Miranda) of Redmond, WA, daughter Shara K. Carter-Howell Schneider (Jonathan Schneider) of Newton, KS, brother Victor D. Carter of Wichita, KS and 6 grandchildren: Jack Howell, Addison Howell, Samantha Howell, Peyton Carter, Rylan Howell, Greyson Howell.
