⛳ Area golfers ready to tee off at KSHSAA Girls State Championships on Monday

Several area golfers will tee off Monday as the Kansas State High School Activities Association Girls Golf State Championships begin across the state. The two-day tournaments will wrap up Tuesday, with local representation in Classes 5A and 4A.

Class 5A — Emporia Golf Course

Hutchinson and Newton will represent the area at the Class 5A state meet in Emporia.

Hutchinson senior Hannah Marcum begins play on Hole 10 in Group 4 with a 9:10 a.m. tee time.

Newton will send five golfers to state:

  1. America Negrete, Hole 1 | Group 3 | 9:10 a.m.
  2. Chaylee Nash, Hole 1 | Group 5 | 9:20 a.m.
  3. Codi Rose, Hole 1 | Group 7 | 9:30 a.m.
  4. Adalynn Lehrman, Hole 1 | Group 9 | 9:40 a.m.
  5. Naomi Koontz, Hole 1 | Group 11 | 9:50 a.m.

Class 4A — Carey Park Golf Course, Hutchinson

Buhler, Hesston and McPherson will all compete close to home as Carey Park hosts the Class 4A championship.

Buhler will send a full team of six:

  1. Harlie Terrell, Hole 1 | Group 1 | 9:00 a.m.
  2. Gabriella Gillespie, Hole 1 | Group 3 | 9:10 a.m.
  3. Addison Specht, Hole 1 | Group 5 | 9:20 a.m.
  4. Paityn Weber, Hole 1 | Group 7 | 9:30 a.m.
  5. Macy Miller, Hole 1 | Group 9 | 9:40 a.m.
  6. Anika Paulsrud, Hole 1 | Group 11 | 9:50 a.m.

Hesston also brings three qualifiers to state:

  1. Wendy Roth, Hole 10 | Group 4 | 9:10 a.m.
  2. Maci Kramer, Hole 10 | Group 6 | 9:20 a.m.
  3. Elizabeth Hosford, Hole 10 | Group 8 | 9:30 a.m.

McPherson rounds out the local contingent with six golfers:

  1. Addison French, Hole 1 | Group 13 | 10:00 a.m.
  2. Amelia Moody, Hole 1 | Group 15 | 10:10 a.m.
  3. Pera Bauer, Hole 1 | Group 17 | 10:20 a.m.
  4. Lleyton Kuhn, Hole 1 | Group 19 | 10:30 a.m.
  5. Andi Buschbom, Hole 1 | Group 21 | 10:40 a.m.
  6. Brodie Kuhn, Hole 1 | Group 23 | 10:50 a.m.

The 4A championship at Carey Park and 5A tournament in Emporia will both conclude Tuesday afternoon with team and individual state champions crowned.
