HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 2024 racing season at the Kansas State Fairgrounds will close with some fun on Saturday night.
"This is a last hurrah on Saturday," said Phil Nightingale with Salt City Racing. "I can't believe the year is over. The year's went so fast. It's been so fun and so exciting with everything we've got going on, but we're going to throw a real twist in it."
It's an open night with three classes racing.
"That's where there's very few rules. Bring what you want," Nightingale said. "We've got a list of four or five rules per class, and so it ought to be fun and exciting to get some other cars out there from that part and just see what happens. So we're going to have the open A mods, B mods, and stock cars."
This should broaden the number of drivers that can come try out the half-mile.
"There's going to be a lot of different drivers, I believe, will be there this weekend," Nightingale said. "You know, we can't accommodate every class throughout the year that's out there in the racing world, so this is a way that we can get every class that's possible around us that race, that they can put their cars on that half mile and go have some fun."
