HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Downtown Hutch noted yesterday the September opening of Diamondback Creations at 321 North Main.

Downtown Hutch said said the brick and mortar location is to help owners Michelle Hawkins and Peter Rate grow their online Native American jewelry business.

Rate grew up on the reservation and was adopted as a child. He grew up in Hutchinson, later moving to California and most recently, Arizona.

Hawkins is originally from Abilene.

Diamondback Creations has been online since 2018 and offers pieces by local artists as well as handcrafted turquoise and silver pieces by Rate.

They hope to start some kid's jewelry making classes soon and are preparing a gallery room in their store dedicated to local artists work, ranging from paintings to jewelry and more.

The store is open right now Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  You can learn more anytime at www.diamondbackcreations.com.
