Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team opens the 2026 season at No. 3 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's first regular-season NJCAA Division I rankings of the season.
With five runners finishing in the Top 6 last week at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic at Fun Valley last Thursday, the Blue Dragons won the seven-team meet going away with a team score of 17 points.
Freshman Letsepa Price Madume won the meet by 25 seconds. He was followed by teammate Esteban Oses Campus and Esteban Ortega. Carson Wetzel was fifth and Gerald Kiprono was sixth to lead the Blue Dragons.
Hutchinson was the national runner-up last season. The Blue Dragon men have been ranked in the USTFCCCA/NJCAA Top 10 for 10 consecutive ranking periods.
The Top 5 has Iowa Western at No. 1, Odessa at No. 2, Hutchinson at No. 3, Snow at No. 4 and New Mexico Junior College at No. 6.
Butler is the next highest KJCCC ranked at No. 6. Colby is ranked No. 12, followed by Garden City at No. 16, Cloud County at No. 18, Dodge City at No. 20 and Fort Hays Tech Northwest at No. 24.
The Blue Dragons next be in competition on Saturday, October 3 at the Chili Pepper Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
