The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team faces a pair of undefeated opponents this weekend at the annual BSN Sports Tip-Off Classic at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons (3-0) will play Southwestern Christian (2-0) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Lamar (2-0) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Dodge City (1-1) is the fourth team in this year's field.
Both Hutchinson games will be broadcast live on KHUT-FM (102.9) beginning at 7:15 p.m nightly. All four men's games will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
The Blue Dragons come off a 102-73 victory over Metropolitan Community College on Tuesday night for their 18th-straight home-opening victory. The Blue Dragons shot 61.7 percent, the seventh-best single-game shot percentage in program history.
Bobby Cannon and Kyrell Shaw scored 18 points each to lead the Blue Dragons, while freshman Chuider Dorar had 15 points and six blocked shots. Dorar has 15 blocked shots through three games.
The Blue Dragons matched up against Southwestern Christian last season in the BSN Sports Tip-Off Classic and outlasted the Rams 99-94 in overtime.
This season the Rams defeated Tyler 80-79 in overtime. Donny Thomas had 27 points with six 3-point goals to lead the Rams over the Apaches. SWC also defeated Paris 72-64.
Lamar opened the season with a 96-75 win over Central Wyoming and is 1-0 against the Jayhawk Conference this season after a 93-84 win on Tuesday over Colby. The Runnin' Lopes have four players averaging 14.0 points or more through two games led by Ahmed Cisse's 18.5 points per game. The Runnin' Lopes enter the game averaging 94.5 points per game offensively.
This is the fifth season for the BSN Sports Tip-off Classic. The Blue Dragons are 8-0 through the first four seasons. Southwestern Christian is the first repeat opponent for Hutchinson in BSN Classic history.
