HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Carson Umphres drove in four runs and the Hutchinson Monarchs broke open a close game with a six-run sixth inning to defeat the Wichita Blacksox 11-1 in run-rule fashion Tuesday night at Hobart-Detter Field.

Wichita took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning when Javier Garcia singled home a run.

Hutchinson answered immediately in the bottom half. Umphres tied the game with an RBI single, and James Dagenhart followed with an RBI triple down the left-field line to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead.

Kevyn Velazco (1-0) earned the win in relief, giving up one run on two hits over two innings while striking out four and walking none. Camden Cornelious closed the game with two hitless innings, striking out three.
