Jerry Edward Garten, 67, of Medicine Lodge, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at his residence. He was born on October 3, 1954 in Cherokee, OK, the son of Billy Franklin Garten and Betty Jane (Harbaugh) Garten. Jerry graduated from Medicine Lodge High School and attended Kansas State University and Pratt Community College. He worked at National Gypsum as a wet end leader and farmed with his parents. Jerry frequently had a joke for the day he liked sharing with others. His favorite hobby was fishing. Surviving are one sister, Nancy (Steve) Carr of Olathe; one nephew, Shane (Stacey) Carr of Medicine Lodge; and one niece, Stephanie (Nick) Babcock of Haslet, TX. He enjoyed his grandnephews and grandnieces, remembering them on birthdays and Christmas. Cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Tom Walters officiating.
