FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – The NJCAA No. 3-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team placed three runners in the Top 12 for an impressive showing in the University division of the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival at Agri Park.
Letsepa Price Madume placed fifth while sophomores Esteban Oses Campos and Esteban Ortega placed ninth and 12th, respectively, to lead the Blue Dragons to a ninth-place team finish in the Men's McDonnel Memorial 8K race.
The Blue Dragons were the highest-placing NJCAA team in the university division soring 281 points. Crowder College was 11th with 305 points and Butler was 15th with 411 points. The University of Texas won the men's team title with 64 points. North Texas was second with 103 points.

Madume, who won the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in August, once again led the Blue Dragons on Saturday. Madume ran a time of 24:13.0, the eighth-fastest time in Blue Dragon history in an 8K event. Madume had a strong stretch run, passing a pair of University of Texas runners to place fifth overall.
The winner was Missouri Western's Pau Valderrama, who ran a time of 24:02.7.
Oses Campos also placed in the Top 10 with a ninth-place time of 24:28.7, a career-best 8K time that is the 11th-fastest time in Blue Dragon history.
Ortega was 12th overall with a time of 24:34.4.
Madume, Oses Campos and Ortega were the top three NJCAA runners competing in the University division.
Freshman Gerald Kiprono placed 132nd with a time of 26:43.5. Sophomore Carson Wetzel was 161st in a time of 27:10.4.2026
The Blue Dragons will next run at the FHSU Tiger Open next Saturday in Hays.
