The Hutchinson Municipal Band will celebrate both a milestone season and America’s semiquincentennial during its 2026 summer concert schedule.

The band’s 151st season will begin with Memorial Day observances on May 25 and continue through July 31 with a series of free public performances across Hutchinson in partnership with local organizations and venues.

This summer’s schedule will feature traditional concert band performances, patriotic programs and collaborative community events, including a special June 30 concert at the Fox Theatre celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The patriotic concert will pair the municipal band with the Reno County Choral Society for a joint performance under the direction of Abby Giles and Scott Logan. The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. June 30.

The season officially opens Memorial Day with two observances. A brass quintet performance is scheduled from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Reno County Veterans Memorial in South Hutchinson, followed by a full concert band performance from 11 a.m. to noon at Fairlawn Burial Park.

The band will also continue its partnership with Hutch Rec by headlining Hutch Rec’s Final Friday Performance Series at DCI Park in both May and July. Those performances are scheduled for May 29 and July 31 from 7 to 8 p.m., both directed by Dan Brinkley.

Additional Tuesday evening concert band performances will be held throughout June and early July at Hutchinson Community College’s Stringer Fine Arts Recital Hall. Guest conductors throughout the season include Abby Giles, Dan Brinkley, Daryl Koestel, Charlene Reynolds and Isaac Hopkins.

The Hutchinson Municipal Band was founded in 1875 and remains one of the community’s longstanding musical organizations. All performances during the 2026 season are free and open to the public.

Season funding and facility partnerships include support from the City of Hutchinson, the City of Hutchinson Cultural Activity Fund, Hutchinson Community College and Hutch Rec.

Band officials said additional musicians are still being considered for participation in the concert band. Musicians interested in joining can contact Vice President of Personnel Charles Johnston through the organization’s website and email channels.

Performance updates and weather-related announcements will be shared throughout the summer on the band’s social media platforms and through local media outlets.
