ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man following rollover accident in Atchison County.
Just aft 5:30p.m. on Monday police responded to a rollover injury accident in the 800 block South 6th Street in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.
A 2008 Mercury SUV driven by Ioannis Markou,23, Atchison, was southbound on 6th Street when it left the roadway, struck a power pole, a street sign, traveled up a grassy embankment and rolled onto its top.
Markou, who was not injured, ran from the accident scene but was taken into custody by officers in the 800 block South 5th.
A 28-year-old passenger in the vehicle, Christopher Edwards of Atchison, was examined at the accident scene by EMS but not transported.
Police arrested Markou for leaving the scene of the accident and took him to the County Jail.
