⚾ Wind Surge cruise after hot start

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Wind Surge were able to cruise to victory after they put up a four run first inning and got yet another solid pitching performance from their starter. Jaylin Nowlin kept the trend of impressive starting pitching performances for the Wind Surge going for the third consecutive game. He only gave up one unearned run over the five and two-thirds innings he pitched. Wichita defeated Arkansas 4-1 and now lead the series two games to one.

The Wind Surge got off to a hot start when they put four runs on the board in the top of the first. It started with Patrick Winkel when he hit an RBI single on a line drive to right field. Jake Rucker hit an RBI single, and a throwing error allowed him to advance to second. Alerick Soularie then ripped a ground ball straight to center field for a two RBI single.

Arkansas got their only run of the ballgame in the bottom of the sixth inning off an unearned run. They were able to get a man across the plate off a Wind Surge fielding error with two outs in the inning.

Jaylin Nowlin made his fourth start of the season on the mound for the Wichita Wind Surge. He pitched five and two thirds innings where he gave up one unearned run off three hits. He struck out four batters and walked one more. He earned the win, and his record stays perfect at (3-0).

Arkansas starting pitcher Jimmy Joyce pitched five innings where he gave up four runs off eight hits. He struck out five batters and walked one more. He was credited with the loss and stays winless at (0-3).

The Wichita Wind Surge improve to (26-22, 54-62) and the Arkansas Travelers fall to (19-28, 64-52).

NOTES: The Wind Surge improve to a league best 15-6 in the month of August. Seth Gray’s ten game hitting streak came to an end after he went 0-4 at the plate in tonight’s ballgame.
