KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Veteran cornerback L’Jarius Sneed is returning to the Kansas City Chiefs, according to multiple reports, reuniting with the franchise he helped win two Super Bowl championships.
Contract details were not immediately available. The Chiefs had not formally announced the signing as of Monday afternoon.
Sneed visited Kansas City last week after spending the past two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee released him in March after injuries limited him to 12 games over two seasons.
The Chiefs selected Sneed in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech. He developed into a key piece of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s secondary during his first four seasons in Kansas City.
Sneed appeared in 57 games with 54 starts during his first stint with the Chiefs, recording 303 tackles, 10 interceptions, 40 passes defended, 6.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. He helped Kansas City win back-to-back Super Bowls following the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Kansas City placed the franchise tag on Sneed after the 2023 season before trading him to Tennessee. The Titans gave Sneed a four-year, $76.4 million contract after acquiring him.
The deal did not work out as Tennessee hoped. Sneed played in five games in 2024 and seven games in 2025, finishing his Titans tenure with 49 tackles, three passes defended and no interceptions.
Sneed, 29, returns to a Kansas City secondary that has undergone significant changes this offseason. The Chiefs traded cornerback Trent McDuffie and lost Jaylen Watson in free agency before moving up to select LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane with the No. 6 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Sneed has recorded 352 tackles, 10 interceptions, 43 passes defended, 6.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 69 career games.
