
Bernice Scott, 90, of Hutchinson, passed away on September 7, 2020. She was born July 4, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Henry and Helen (Richardson) Johnson, Sr.
Bernice graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1948. She married Glen A. Scott from Haven, on September 11, 1948. As a teenager, Bernice worked at the Hutchinson Fox Theatre and as a waitress at the Haley Cafe. She was a homemaker while she raised her three boys. Afterwards, Bernice worked as a Weight Watchers’ recording secretary, Unified School District 309 in the cafeteria, at the Hutchinson Sale Barn, and as a caregiver. She loved to do crochet, puzzles, and was a state champion bowler earlier in life.
Bernice is survived by sons, Glen (Sandy) Scott, Jr., David (Diane) Scott, and John (Gina) Scott; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Helen Johnson; brother, Hank Johnson; and husband, Glen Scott.
Private graveside service, due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Laurel Cemetery, rural Haven, with The Rev. Larry Brock officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.
