Dee Anne Scrogin |1937-2021|

Dee Anne Scrogin, 84, formerly of Hutchinson, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Heritage Pointe, Omaha, NE. She was born July 12, 1937, in Kansas City, KS, to Kermit Inor and Melba (Arnold) Oberg. 

Dee graduated from St. John High School in 1955 and Kansas State University in 1959.  She taught middle school and high school English for 37 years, teaching in Colorado Springs, CO, Buhler, and Hutchinson.  Dee was a proud alumnus of Kansas State University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and Mortar Board.  She enjoyed reading, teaching, traveling, and volunteering at Hospice House and the Soup Kitchen.  Dee’s greatest joy came when she was with her family and helping others.  She was a long-time member of Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson, where she was active in Disciples Women.

On June 2, 1959, she married Richard A. “Dick” Scrogin, in St. John.  He died May 31, 2019, after sharing 60 years of marriage.

Dee is survived by:  sons, Scott Scrogin (Tara) of Omaha, NE, and David Scrogin of Orlando, FL; and a cousin, Anita Feldt of Overland Park.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; parents-in-law; and beloved pets, Annie and Pete.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 N. Adams, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Dr. David Dubovich officiating.  Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John.  Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Park Place Christian Church or the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
