Harold Lee Stoppel |1937-2021|

Harold Lee Stoppel, 84, passed away October 20, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  He was born October 18, 1937, in Lucas, to Alexander and Bertha (Galliart) Stoppel.

Harold was a 1955 graduate of Russell High School, Russell.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960.  Harold was the owner of Stoppel Refrigeration, Heating and Cooling for over 40 years, and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Nickerson.

He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Harold loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He would do anything for them, and he could always be counted on to be present in their lives.

On September 22, 1956, Harold married Betty Louise Boyles, in Russell.  They shared over 65 years of marriage.

He is survived by:  Betty Stoppel of Hutchinson; children, James Stoppel of Sterling, and Sue (Kevin) Webb of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin (Janice) Stoppel of Russell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Lucille Steinert, Betty Ann Gilberth, and Carol Jean Griffin; and sister-in-law, Virgie Irene Gilliland.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary, with The Reverend Richard Brooks officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard at Elliott Mortuary.  Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy, OK.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
