HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson High School Salthawk bowling teams competed at the class 5A regional on Thursday at The Alley.
Senior Jacob Bofink bowled 669 series to finish in fourth place and qualify for the state bowling championship. Bofink bowled a 279, 234 and 156 in his three games.
Fellow senior Tanner Cunningham bowled a 569 series to finish 24th individually, but unfortunately did not qualify for state. Cunningham bowled a 181, 190 and 198.
Newton freshman Remington Burke is a state qualifier with a ninth place finish, bowling 235-221-188 for a 644 series. Newton finished fourth place as a team.
Maize South boys won the regional with a 3476, while Salina South finished second with 3182 and Bishop Carroll finished third with 3174. Hutchinson finished ninth as a team.
On the girls side, it was freshman Alexis Jones with a 465 series to finish 20th and lead the Salthawks.
The Salthawks did not qualify any girls for state.
Bishop Carroll won the regional with a 2915 score, followed by Salina South with 2910 and Maize South in third with 2796.
The class 5A state championship will take place on Wednesday, March 5 at Bowlero Northrock in Wichita.
