
HUTCHINSON, Kan.— The Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees will go over several capital purchases during their monthly meeting on Thursday.
The purchases within the vocational department will provide major technical upgrades to the schools welding technology area. The Board will be asked to approve the purchase of 14 multi purpose welders for both the Hutchinson and Hillsboro sites from Lampton Welding Supply of Hutchinson at a cost of $73,093. The Board will also take action on purchasing five advance process welders from Lampton at a cost of $26,862.
The welders are needed to bring the welding program up to date with the latest technology that is being used in the industry. Also Thursday the Board will get an update on hiring a new Safety Academy Trainer. The new program would provide instruction on industrial safety and OSHA safety rules to business and mining operations across the midwest. The person hired would also design and promote safety training programs and develop safety plans for clients.And finally the Board will go into executive session to discuss negotiations with the college faculty.
Thursday's meeting of the Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees begins at 7 p.m. at the Shears Technology Center on the Hutch CC campus.
