U.S. 50 survey to begin in Reno County

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is scheduled to begin a field survey along U.S. 50 near Pleasantview in Reno County on or about May 11.

The survey will cover approximately one mile of the highway in preparation for bridge repairs on the structure over K-61 and the Union Pacific and BNSF railroads. This data collection is essential for the detailed design of the proposed improvement.

KDOT anticipates completing the survey before the Independence Day holiday.

A member of the survey crew first will contact property owners and/or tenants for permission to enter private property. Survey activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor.

John Davies, P.S., Survey Project Manager, KDOT, will oversee this survey.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones.
