The American Red Cross is urging area residents to donate blood during a series of upcoming blood drives in Hutchinson as the organization works to address an emergency nationwide blood shortage.

Blood drives are scheduled for July 31, August 3, August 4, and August 5, and Red Cross officials say every donation is needed to help replenish the nation's blood supply.

You can schedule an appointment at redcrossblood.org

  1. Fri. July 31 - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Park Place Christian Church - 2600 North Adams St.
  2. Mon. Aug. 3 - Noon to 6:30 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church - 407 East 12th Ave.
  3. Tues. Aug. 4 - 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church - 407 East 12th Ave.
  4. Wed. Aug. 5 - 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church - 407 East 12th Ave.

The appeal comes after the American Red Cross declared an emergency blood shortage when the national blood supply dropped nearly 25 percent during June. Officials say the decline has created an urgent need for donors to help ensure hospitals have enough blood on hand for patients requiring lifesaving transfusions.

Blood donations support patients undergoing surgery, receiving cancer treatments, recovering from traumatic injuries, and others facing serious medical emergencies. A single blood donation can help save multiple lives.

Community members are encouraged to schedule appointments in advance to donate at one of the upcoming Hutchinson blood drives. Organizers are also asking businesses, churches, civic organizations and individuals to help spread the word by sharing information about the drives with employees, customers, members, friends and family.

Red Cross officials say community support is essential to maintaining a stable blood supply and ensuring patients receive the care they need without delay.

Appointments are encouraged to help ensure an efficient donation experience and to maximize the number of donors who can participate during the upcoming drives.
