
DERBY, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs went on the road Saturday night and defeated the Derby Twins 9-2 to push their season record to 4-2 and win their fourth straight victory.
The Monarchs bats were hot again as they pounded out 10 hits with timely hits through out the night.
Brett Smajstrla led the Monarchs going 3 for 3 on the night as Hutchinson as a team collected 5 RBI's on the night.
While the Twins offense did get nine hits on the evening, the Monarch defense held Derby to only single scoring innings with one rune in both the seventh and ninth innings.
Ian Regal went five innings and was the winning pitcher for the Monarchs while Lukas Ward took the loss for the Twins going three and a third innings.
Next action for the Monarchs (4-2) is at home tonight at 6pm versus the Great Bend Bat Cats (4-1) at Hobart-Detter Field in Carey Park.
