HUTCHINSON, Kan. —  The back portion of a Hutchinson home and its wrap around porch sustained most of the damage from a Tuesday afternoon fire.

According to Hutchinson Fire Chief Steven Beer, at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, crews were called to 1704 North Wilshire Drive.

The fire was initially called in as a brush fire, but crews quickly found that a home was ablaze, with fire showing from the back of the structure.

The first unit pulled water to the rear and requested structure engines to the scene. High winds made the fire move quickly through the home.

The cause of the fire was found to be an overloaded power strip. No one was hurt. The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
