HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas notes that even in the height of summer, Kansas still has it cheaper than most places in the country at the retail gasoline pump.
"Here in Kansas, the prices most recently have been fairly stable," Steward said Thursday. "Today, we're at $2.87 a gallon on average across the state. That's the same as we were a week ago and only one cent more than we were a month ago."
In Reno County, prices are holding as well.
"Reno County is at $2.86 a gallon," Steward said. "That's one cent less than the state average."
Steward notes that there is a lot of uncertainty in the crude oil market coming soon, with OPEC not meeting as planned and the Atlantic hurricane season still active, there are many forces that could raise crude oil prices and ultimately pump prices in the coming months.
