HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The annual campaign for the United Way of Reno County is getting underway.

"We are excited to kick off our United Way community-wide campaign," said Carla Stanfield with United Way. "We're going to actually have two separate events, but we'd love for the community to join us for either or both. The first is going to be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, over in the Hutchinson Public Library parking lot."

There will be food trucks available, live music and a lot of positive energy to kick off the campaign. A similar event will happen later in the day, as well.

"The second event is in the late afternoon, early evening, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It's going to be in the parking lot at 30th and Plum."

That's the former Dillons parking lot where Fee Insurance, GEO Chemicals and Scooters are located. The campaign has also announced its chair for this year.

"It's Darrell Pankratz," Stanfield said. "He is the retired CEO of Prairieland Partners. He has been so gracious as to give us a lot of his time and energy through the campaign. He also makes a cameo in our campaign video. We're very thankful for Darrell's time and effort."

Stanfield said the United Way helps 27 agencies across Reno County and community members should be looking for United Way representatives to come to their workplaces throughout the fall.
