McPherson Police Chief Mikel Golden has been elected President of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP). The announcement was made on Sept. 26, during the KACP’s annual meeting in Salina.

The event brought together law enforcement leaders from across the state, along with Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, Kansas Bureau of Investigation Director Tony Mattivi, and Kansas Highway Patrol Superintendent Colonel Erik Smith.

Chief Golden will serve a two-year term as president of the statewide organization, which provides training, support, and advocacy for police chiefs and law enforcement administrators.

“We congratulate Chief Golden on this honor,” the McPherson Police Department said in a statement. “We know he’ll represent McPherson and the law enforcement community across Kansas with dedication and integrity.”

Golden has served as McPherson’s police chief since 2022, and his new leadership role places him at the forefront of statewide law enforcement collaboration and policy discussions.
