
MANHATTAN, Kan. — JHX Hoops overcame a 12-0 deficit Friday night to defeat Kansas State alumni team Purple Reign 62-55 at Bramlage Coliseum and advance in The Basketball Tournament.
The Kansas alumni team closed the game on a 13-2 run during the Elam Ending. Frank Mason III scored the winning layup, his second straight game-winner.
Zeke Mayo led JHX Hoops with 25 points and four 3-pointers. Jacob Hanna added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Michael Beasley led Purple Reign with 17 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. Austin Trice finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Purple Reign led 26-24 at halftime and carried a 45-39 advantage into the fourth quarter. JHX trailed 53-49 when the Elam Ending began but held Purple Reign without a field goal the rest of the way.
JHX Hoops will face either Wichita State alumni team the AfterShocks or New Mexico alumni team The Enchantment at 8 p.m. Monday. The game will be played in Wichita if the AfterShocks advance and in Topeka if The Enchantment wins.
