HUTCHINSON, Kan. — New Chief Quality Officer with Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, Nick Baldetti is excited to see how his new role can help make everyone in the region healthier.
"We're going to be looking at and striving toward the greater goal, which is the highest quality of outcomes for the patients that we serve here in Reno County and the greater region," Baldetti said. "As the Chief Quality Officer, it's really setting that vision and putting together a task toward trying to reach that greater goal of best health outcomes."
The foundation of that work starts with data, according to Baldetti.
"We need to be able to monitor and aggregate and act on accurate, real time data in reference to the services that we're rendering to the clients and patients that we serve," Baldetti said. "For example, like infection rate within the walls, mortality rate, readmission rate for patients that we discharge and if they come back, things of that nature."
Hutchinson Regional wants to take you from where you are to a healthier place, even if that is small steps.
"First and foremost, it's about empathetic but candid care," Baldetti said. "We want to be a part of the health care team for each individual person, be your destination for the healthcare needed to ensure higher quality outcomes for you individually. Additionally, just as a matter of moral impetus for health care in general, we need to look at our greater community's health outcomes, as well, as it informs the services that we're rendering."
It's important not only to know that Hutchinson Regional has providers in specialties that some may not think of outside of larger markets like Wichita, but that those providers are able to give an equal or greater standard of care here at home and that the closer to home you can get care when you need it, the better off an individual will be.
