
BUTLER COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 5p.m. Thursday in Butler County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a Piper Single-Engine airplane piloted by Nathaniel L. Trenum, 38, Chattanooga, TN. was on an approach at the end of training and came in for a landing too fast at SW 106th Terrace and SW Sante Fe Lake Road.
The pilot had to make an emergency landing for safety reasons. When they made their emergency landing, they went through a fence and removed the right wing of the plane on a fence post. The plane came to a stop in front of the barn on the property.
EMS transported Trenum to Susan B. Allen Hospital. A passenger Charles Michael Frisch, 19, Wichita, was not injured.
The KHP released no additional details. The NTSB will investigate.
