BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for alleged crimes involving a child and a meeting for sex.
Just after 2:30 p.m., Saturday, members of the Great Bend Police Department met with members of MotorCity Justice in reference to tip that a Great Bend man was soliciting sex from a 15-year old girl. The Great Bend Police Detectives had been working on this investigation with MotorCity Justice for several weeks.
The suspect later identified as 37-year-old Peter Nail communicated through a chat log, planning to meet the 15-year-old girl at a location in Great Bend, according to the release. Members of the Great Bend Police Department staged in the area of 10th and McKinley until Nail arrived to pick up the girl.
When Nail arrived, police conducted a traffic stop and placed him under arrest on requested charges of sexual exploitation of a child, indecent solicitation of a child, and electronic solicitation, according to the release. Police also seized an electronic device as evidence. Nail is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
