
VOLUNTEER CENTER OF RENO COUNTY
The Volunteer Center of Reno County, a United Way agency, is a central clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities in Reno County. Area non-profit and governmental organizations have submitted the following requests for help. RISE UP RENO PREVENTION NETWORK is seeking volunteers to read with elementary school students for 30 minutes to an hour each week. Volunteers are also needed to mentor students Kindergarten through 12th grade once a week for up to an hour. Volunteers will provide caring support for the student as well as read with them or work on schoolwork or homework as needed. Volunteers must be 18 years of age, pass a background check, have an interest in mentoring, and complete the initial paperwork and orientation before being placed in schools.
HUTCHINSON MOMS-Volunteers are needed to provide childcare during meetings on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month from 8:45a.m.-11a.m. during the school year. Volunteers must have some experience with children and provide a safe, enjoyable environment for them. Volunteers will be background checked to provide care for children.
The KANSAS STATE FAIR will be held September 11-20, 2026. The fair is looking for front desk workers in the administration office from now through the fair to answer and transfer calls, greet people coming into the office, etc. During the fair, volunteers are also needed in the education center to assist staff with activities for children and in exhibit buildings to help monitor exhibits. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and will have a background check. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt, free admission into the state fair and free food tickets if they volunteer 4 hours or more. Volunteers must have a friendly and helpful attitude while dealing with all walks of life during the fair.
GRAND STAFF THRIFT BOUTIQUE is looking for volunteers to help at their booth during the Kansas State Fair. Volunteers will be steaming clothes, greeting people, giving out information about Grand Staff, bag purchases, possibly running the cash register, making coffee and pouring samples. Volunteers should be able to walk from the parking lot into the booth at the fairgrounds, able to stand for at least 20 minutes at a time and have a pleasant personality. Volunteers are needed for 4 hour shifts September 8-20. Volunteers will receive a free admission ticket on the day they volunteer.
THE SALVATION ARMY thrift store is looking for a store clerk on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Volunteers will greet, check out and thank customers first, and then if time allows straighten clothes on racks and shelves, put hangers and tag/hang
