NEWTON, Kan.-The Hutch High Salthawks football team must have rubbed that rabbit's foot again as they over came 3 turnovers and a big play Newton passing game to edge the Railers 32-26 in a tremendous football game Friday night at Fisher Field in the Newton Athletic Park.
Nic Lange's passing was big as he threw for 162 yards on 7 for 11 attempts but the big one was the 81 yard strike he threw to Noah Khokhar across the middle that Khokhar gathered in to take it in for the winning score with 90 seconds to play in the game and no time outs remaining.
Lange also set up what would have been made the score at 27 all with his legs as he rumbled 60 plus yards down to the Newton 9 yard line. Two plays later Khokhar took it in from 6 yards out. The PAT was blocked and Newton had the lead 27-26 with just over 8 minutes remaining.
Hutchinson got the stop they needed with 1:37 to go in the game when Newton failed to convert on 4th down deep inside Salthawk territory before Khokhar's winning catch and run.
