The Wind Surge fell short 4-3 to the Tulsa Drillers on Tuesday night behind a strong start on the hill from Andrew Heaney.
Andrew Heaney got the start on the mound for the Drillers on a rehab assignment from the Los Angeles Dodgers and was nearly untouchable as he pitched five scoreless innings and allowed just two hits, one walk, and struck out nine hitters before being relieved by Jose Hernandez.
Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, Matt Wallner hit a solo home run for Wichita to tie the game up 1-1. Wallner finished the night two for four with an RBI.
Casey Legumina got the start on the hill for Wichita and pitched six innings and allowed just one run on four hits and tallied five strikeouts before being relieved by Bryan Sammons in the seventh inning.
Tulsa scored three runs in the seventh behind a two-run RBI single from James Outman and an RBI-single from Andy Pages that gave the Drillers a 4-1 lead. Edouard Julien responded for the Surge in the next half-inning as he hit an opposite field two-run homer to shrink the Tulsa lead to 4-3.
Notes: The Surge are now 3-6 this season against Tulsa in The Propeller Series.
The Wind Surge will resume action Wednesday for a doubleheader against the Drillers. First pitch for game one is at 4:35 p.m.
