Two area agencies receive crime victims funding

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two Hutchinson organizations have been awarded more than $137,000 in grants to provide services for victims of crime. 

BrightHouse will receive $61,293 to provide a secure and controlled environment in which supervised family visits and monitored child exchanges may occur. The shelter will also receive an additional $45,554 to provide victim-centered, trauma informed domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy services. 

Horizons Mental Health Center will also see funding from the state. The mental health center will get $24,890 to provide services for victims of crime and teach prevention skills for children in school that are vulnerable to abuse or maltreatment and an additional $5,400 for operating expenditures for children’s advocacy centers.

The awards were made from the Protection from Abuse Fund, the State Child Exchange and Visitation Centers Fund and the Children’s Advocacy Centers Fund.
