Eugene Victor “Vic” Piña, 71, died January 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born November 29, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Amado and Mercedes (Figueroa) Piña, Jr.
Victor graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969. He retired from Westar Energy after over 42 years of service. Victor enjoyed tinkering (especially with lawn mowers), watching the Royals and Chiefs, listening to music, and working outside. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with his family. Victor was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson.
On December 5, 1970, he married Jackie Marshall at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. They shared 51 years of marriage.
Victor is survived by: his wife, Jackie; children, Nancy Piña (Phillip Love), Angela Piña-Felty (Gary), Jennifer Garland (Trapper Tyrell), Victoria Pence (Chuck Pence), Lance Piña (Ciji) and Christina Link (Ben); grandchildren, Tristin (T.J.) Piña, Rorick (Rory) Piña, Corbin Piña, Taylor Stoll (Trevor), Cevanna Galimore, Tanisa (Nisa) Piña, Robert (Bobby) Garland, Nataylie (Taylie) Piña, Trevor Piña, Cameron Galimore, Kilian Tyrell, Mauree Garland, Olivia McClintock, Maximus (Max) Pence, Xavier Piña, Kirby Piña, and Ellie Link; great-grandchildren, Alexiah Piña and Alice Piña; siblings, Arthur Piña (Cecilia), Arnold Piña, Amado Piña III (Teresa), Marty Piña, Rosemary Aleman (Robert), and Laura Rangel; great-uncle, Ignacio Piña; great-aunts, Jovita and Barbara; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, William “Bill” Piña.
Rosary will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, at Elliott Chapel. Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
