SEDGWICK COUNTY —Sedgwick County District  Attorney Marc Bennett has filed a civil petition seeking the ouster of Wichita City Councilman James Clendenin for his role along with two others in a false ad against then Wichita mayoral candidate Brandon Whipple, according to a release from Bennett's office.

Michael O’Donnell resigned earlier this month from the Sedgwick County Commission after Bennett concluded there was sufficient evidence to begin ouster proceedings against him.

On November 20, Bennett said that he has also been in consultation with the attorney general’s office concerning state Rep Michael Capps role in the plot.

The matter against Clendenin will be assigned to a District Court Judge, according to Bennett.  No formal proceedings are scheduled.
