SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — South Hutchinson City Manager Joseph Turner told Hutch Post Friday that progress is continuing forward on the Scott Boulevard Bridge.
The survey work on the span continues and contacts are being made with the necessary utilities that will need to be moved within the right of way to allow the work to go on.
The road will stay open through the winter, though, because the asphalt plants to resurface the road once the bridge is replaced will close soon for the winter due to the cold weather.
In an effort not to have the road closed any longer than necessary, that project will not start until the spring when they can coordinate construction of the bridge with the asphalting of the road. Turner hopes that can happen by late spring, but it is obviously weather dependent.
In other South Hutchinson news, the city has picked up the increase in insurance costs for its 17 employees and included a 3% cost of living increase. That was approved at the last City Council meeting.
