HESSTON, Kan. — Central Christian continued its dominance on the links Tuesday, capturing its fourth consecutive Class 1A regional boys golf championship at Hesston Golf Course.
The Cougars won the Goessel Regional by a commanding 56 strokes, posting a team score of 331. St. John-Hudson finished second at 387, with Ellis placing third at 403.
Sophomore Cael Kooiman led the way for Central Christian, claiming individual medalist honors with a 6-over-par 77. He edged his older brother, senior Ryland Kooiman, by three strokes.
Senior Nathan Reed added a fifth-place finish with an 85, while freshman Tyler Reed placed eighth after carding an 89.
Senior Tarren Scripsick finished 23rd with a 108, and senior Brody Froese finished 26th with a 110.
Pretty Prairie sophomore Braden Woods finished 33rd overall with a 125.
The Class 1A state tournament is scheduled for May 27-28 at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City.
